Electronic Arts Inc. has announced that the next collaborative project between The Sims™ and Katy Perry will be available this June on PC/Mac. In The Sims™ 3 Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats*, players can sweeten up their Sims’ lives with Katy Perry-inspired, candylicious items that will enhance their game experience such as décor, furniture, objects and of course, fashions and hairstyles. Players will sink their sweet tooth into all new in-game goodies and turn the homes and neighborhoods of their Sims into a whimsical Candyfornia™, complete with cupcake-themed guitars, candy playground equipment and delicious cotton candy trees. Outfitting their Sims in an array of new clothing and hairstyles, players will make their Sims look good enough to eat! Three pre-built venues will help transform the world for the Sims characters with a game packed full of Katy Perry-inspired content.

“I’m delighted to bring you more with The Sims 3 Sweet Treats,” said Perry. “I love some of the accessories so much that I am going to get some of them made in real life! It’s one of my small life goals to sit on a banana split couch.” Additionally, players will rock out to a Simlish version of Katy Perry’s hit song, ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F),’ which she recorded for The Sims 3 Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats. Simlish is the official language of The Sims. Perry comments on singing the Simlish version of the track, saying, “‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’ is a really fun song to sing along to in any language, so I thought why not in Simlish?”

In The Sims 3 Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats, players can indulge their Sims in an array of exciting and colorful items to turn their surroundings into vibrant candytopias. From banana split sofas to lavish fountains made of candy, and even a waffle cone picnic table, this game really captures Katy Perry’s spirit. New sugar-coated fashions and hairstyles really sweeten this game. The fashions are straight from Katy Perry’s red carpet appearances, music videos and concert performances, which have now been recreated for The Sims in a true to life way.
Even more delectable are the pre-built venues that are included. Players can take their Sims for a dip amidst the sweet surroundings of Patty’s Natural Baths, an all-new pool venue, complete with bubble gum pink lounge chairs and a licorice-themed slippy slide. They can stroll over to the Bonbon Lawn Park where they’ll find loads of fun-for-all-ages, candy playground equipment. Players can also take their Sims to the Cake Pleasure Dome, the town’s charming local hangout, where even more tasty sweet treats await.

The Sims 3 Katy Perry’s Sweet Treats is rated “T” for Teen and currently available for pre-order.

Unilever is rolling out a year-long campaign which will see a variety of its brands featuring in the game experience of The Sims Social from Electronic Arts. The game has already played host to the virtual Dove Hair Spa, with players upgrading their bathrooms and interacting with the spa and Dove haircare products via a special Care & Repair With Dove Hair Therapy shower which rewarded them with ‘love’ and ‘bling’.

The Dove haircare campaign will continue with a tab within The Sims Social Store giving players access to special hair items plus via an in-game quest tasking players with interacting with items they previously unlocked.
Unilever plans to deploy ‘seasonally relevant’ products in The Sims Social throughout the year, and this spring and summer will see a number ice cream brands – including Magnum Mini Ice Cream bars, Yosicle ice pops and Cornetto cones enter the gaming mix.
“We are always looking for new opportunities and innovative ways to engage with our consumers,” says Luis Di-Como, svp of global media at Unilever. “That’s why we build partnerships that go beyond so-called traditional communication. Integrating our brands into popular EA social games like The Sims Social allows us to reach our consumers in a more meaningful and impactful way – where they can have fun and spend time with our brands, thereby creating a deeper emotional connection and loyalty with our brands.”

The Chinese version of EA Playfish’s The Sims Social launches its open beta today on Tencent’s QZone platform. EA originally announced it was working on the game in February.

The game, which will be called Mo Ni Shi Guang (“Simulation Time”), features redesigned graphics, furniture, clothing and skills in order to suit Chinese aesthetics, but uses of many of the same social elements The Sims Social uses on Facebook. It will also include the recent expansion allowing players to pursue careers.

Electronic Arts confirmed that the open beta will save players’ in-game information so their progress won’t be interrupted when the game officially launches, but the company did not reveal when it plans to take the game out of beta.

With Facebook banned and other Chinese social networks struggling to compete — last year Renren reported it had just 31 million monthly active users out of 160 million registered users – the 700 million user strong Tencent seems to be emerging as the defacto platform for social game developers looking to break into the Chinese market.

6waves CEO Rex Ng recently told us his company was working with Tencent to bring several social titles to Chinese audiences, including Ravenwood Fair and two other unannounced titles. 6waves’ SVP of Publishing Jim Ying also noted that Tencent is so big that there’s a constant demand for new content. More importantly, Tencent also seems to a viable platform for Western developers. The Chinese version of Zynga’s CityVille garnered the company a Top 10 App Award from Tencent last month — a very different experience than EA has so far had in China, where the Renren version of Popcap’s Plants vs. Zombies has failed to find traction.

Zen Garden and Spatacula SteamMe Sauna Details

The Project Item for Spa Week is set to be the Tropical Zen Garden which we believe will be handed out Free to all players of The Sims Social on Thursday when the new Spa Week collection drops.

The rewards for completing the Zen Garden seem to be pretty high with a +10,000 House Value boost upon completion of all the relevant Mastery Levels and also the chance to get your hands on the Spatacula SteamMe Sauna which will again boost your House Value by an additional +13,150 and looks stunning.

Both of these items look amazing and will almost definitely spruce your Littlehaven Shores Beach House up into the relaxing tropical paradise it was always meant to be. 54 Simoleons profit can be earned through the Zen Garden at its top Mastery Level when Inspired. To achieve the above luxuries though, you will need to have these relevant Ingredients to complete the Zen Gardens Mastery Levels:

By the look of the extensive Ingredients list completing the Zen Garden may well be a very hard challenge along with completing the usual Spa Week Quest at the same time. The new Ingredients like Crystals and Orchids we believe will be dropped from the new random yard growing plants associated with the week and the new Crystal Tree Crop that should go live to coincide with the health and hygiene theme.

The Zen Garden will have many interactions associated with it once it is full built and to make the most out of it you’ll need to invite a friend over to your residence to perform actions like ‘Meditate, Drink From Spa, Zen Bath, Relax, Splash or Zen WooHoo’ whilst the Spatacula SteamMe Suana completion reward boasts to be able to reinvigorate your Sim by being able to collect the following Ingredients and Potions every 5 hours:

Double Inspired Potions
Inspired Potions
Energy
Relaxation
Love
Goodwill
Dreams

Alongside being able to ‘Reinvigorate & Collect’ in the Spatacula SteamMe Sauna you will be able to ‘Let Off Steam’ or simply have a ‘Steamy WooHoo’ with that particular Neighbour you’ve had your eye on. Overall both items look amazing, both will boost your House Value considerably higher, both have lots of perks and interactions and in our opinion both are well worth working for.

Milla Jovovich’s Haircut Inspiration: The Sims

Milla Jovovich added a dose of edge to her brunet crop with an asymmetrical undercut inspired by her favorite computer game. “I have a strange addiction to The Sims,” Jovovich said and added “All my Sims wind up with this haircut, and it’s always a house full of really hot chicks. I thought, ‘Obviously I want this haircut because I keep picking it out.’” The model-turned-actress accentuated her half-shaved style with a deep side part. What do you think? Do you like her new look?

What Are Career Points? – According to Chris White, Career Points are some sort of XP points – they are required for us to complete career quests and to be promoted to the next level. We will get double career points just for going to work on time, so the most active players should have no problem getting them soon.

DID YOU KNOW that if your return ‘on time’ for your job appointment you will receive double Career Points!

Chef? Artist? Rock Star? What is the best career to choose in The Sims Social? The answer is what ever makes you happy! Each career will introduce special interactions and items unique for that career, and when the Career Path is no longer challenging you can change Careers and start over again.

Careers guide and FAQ!

22 March 2012

Do you have questions about our exciting NEW Careers feature? Look no further!

Be sure to check out our official guide on careers in which Buddy will happily explain everything you need to know about climbing the career ladder!

Any questions left unanswered? Here are a few pointers:

What are Career Points? (are they separate from XP? Will I still earn XP from Careers)?

Yes – whenever you go to work, you will earn Career Points. Get enough and you will unlock the next promotion quest! You will however, earn XP from every job completed which will help you level up in the game.

Will the earning of simoleons be comparable to what my Sim can earn through using Skill Items?

Doing jobs in Careers uses a single Energy when you the job is ready to complete, and the higher up you get in Careers, the better your rewards. Also, the longer appointments will give you better payouts as well! Get promoted, arrive on time, master each jobs and you’ll soon see the benefits of working on a Career!

Are there going to be more Careers?

Yes – we’re working on them! If you have suggestions, let us know and the team will have a look!

Will I be able to work on more than one Career at the same time?

Sorry, you won’t be able to do this. However, you can switch careers but may lose some Career Points in the Career that you are switching away from:

Any Career Points since your last promotion will be lost. However, you won’t lose any if a promotion quest is unlocked but not completed. Also, any jobs in progress will be cancelled.

So we recommend the best time to switch a Career is when you have just been promoted or are at a promotion point but not yet completed it yet.

Can I change my mind about my Career choice?

Yes, do see above.

What happens when I reach the top of my Career? Can I start another one?

When you have reached the current available highest Promotion of your Career, you can always switch to a different Career and try to get to the top of that one! There will, however be more levels coming later! And with new Careers coming soon, you’ll always have a new promotion to be working toward!

How much energy will I be using when I go to work?

Different jobs need different amounts of Energy. So you’re looking at a range of 1 to 3 depending on how you want your Sim to do!

The Sims Social is giving away Free! Life’s a Beach Porch Swing for those lovely Spring Days that are coming our way. This will increase your house value by 350 as well help you get some extra sleep.
